The challenge
Kirppu started in 2015 with a single store in Herlev and had ambitious plans to expand by opening more stores across Denmark. To realize this vision, they needed a comprehensive technical solution that could support their growth and build a strong connection with their growing customer base. A central part of this solution was the development of a user-friendly online customer panel.
Kirppu wanted an easily accessible customer panel where customers could quickly log in and manage their stalls. The features needed to include the ability to rent new stalls, extend the rental of existing ones, and purchase additional services. With increasing demand and a concept warmly received by the Danish public, it was crucial to implement this solution quickly and efficiently.
Our approach
We set out to find a UX/UI designer who could take full responsibility for developing a complete prototype, user interface design, and usability testing. The candidate needed to improve the user experience and graphical user interface based on an existing wireframe prototype. Additionally, it was important for the designer to collaborate effectively with front-end and back-end developers and have experience in usability testing.
After a thorough search process, we found the ideal candidate who not only had the necessary professional skills but also fit well with Kirppu’s team and culture.
The result
The selected UX/UI designer became a key player in a small, dedicated team. As the sole designer, he took a leading role and had full responsibility for developing a functional prototype based on the “minimum viable product” (MVP) methodology. The challenge was to keep the prototype simple and functional, including only the most essential features while leaving larger ideas for future versions.
This approach made it possible to launch a solution quickly, which was crucial since Kirppu’s customers were demanding a fast resolution. After the launch, it also provided a perfect opportunity to implement user experience analyses, where the designer could gather feedback and data on practical usability. These insights were used to address immediate issues customers faced and to continuously improve the solution.
The impact
With the designer in place, Kirppu successfully developed a user-friendly customer panel that met their customers’ needs and supported the company’s growth strategy. Kirppu has since experienced significant expansion and now operates over 10 stores across Denmark. The effective implementation of the customer panel has played an important role in improving the customer experience and strengthening Kirppu’s market position.
